Since celebrating our fifth anniversary in April, Steppers Women of Colour Walking Football Club has continued to grow from strength to strength.
We are delighted to welcome new players to the Steppers family, reflecting the growing interest in walking football and strengthening our club both on and off the pitch.
Over the past few months, we’ve been busy—not only playing football but creating opportunities for people to connect, build friendships and celebrate our local community.

Welcoming five new players has been one of the highlights of the season. Every new member brings their own personality, experience and enthusiasm, enriching our club and reminding us that there is always room for more women to discover the joy of walking football.

Friendly Match: Steppers v Lanesra
One of our highlights was hosting a friendly match against Lanesra at our home ground.
The morning was filled with laughter, friendly competition and excellent sportsmanship. It was also hot hot hot. Events like these are about much more than the final score—they strengthen relationships between clubs, encourage healthy competition and remind us that football has a unique way of bringing people together.

A Summer of Football
This summer has shown once again how football can unite communities.
The excitement surrounding Arsenal’s League Champions’ win brought an estimated 1.5 million supporters together to celebrate at the parade. People from every background filled the streets in a joyful display of pride and togetherness—a powerful reminder of the positive impact football can have beyond the game itself.
Not all Steppers team members supports Arsenal- I do! But anything that brings the community out in good cheer increasing the love of the game, Steppers is behind!

The celebrations continued with the FIFA World Cup.
Tris from Romance FC kindly invited Steppers to a private viewing of the England 
v Ghana 
match at Dona Bar in Stoke Newington N16.
It was wonderful to be in the heart of our local community, connecting over drinks before kick-off. The venue was filled with a balanced mix of England and Ghana supporters, creating an exciting and nail-biting atmosphere throughout the match.
It was another fantastic evening of football, community spirit and shared passion for the beautiful game.

The community spirit continues next month with our annual Steppers Community Picnic in Finsbury Park.
Whether you’re a Steppers member, family, friend or local resident, we’d love you to join us for an afternoon of food, games, laughter and great company.

At Steppers, we believe football is about far more than what happens on the pitch.
