Event: Picnic In The Park
Steppers enjoyed hosting their inaugural Bring & Share Picnic in the Park. A vibrant and inclusive gathering boning over cultural dishes, traditional music and great conversation. Community engagement and maintaining a visible presence are core principles that define Steppers, and this event perfectly embodied those values. We had the honour of meeting the Deputy Mayor of Haringey, Eldridge Culverwell, who joined us for an inspiring conversation. Topics ranged from addressing unmet needs in the community to the invaluable role of independent grassroots groups. We also explored sustainable strategies to support community initiatives.

Location: Haringey Libraries
Event: Black History Month
We were thrilled to collaborate with Haringey Libraries during Black History Month. The event celebrated the incredible contributions of local artisans, showcased wonderful performances, and highlighted organisations raising awareness of illnesses that disproportionately affect the Black community. This was also an excellent opportunity to network, promote Steppers, and share the many benefits of walking football. We deeply appreciate the chance to engage with the community, support local talent, and contribute to this meaningful celebration of Black heritage and health awareness.

Four of our Steppers are proud members of the all-women Samba band, Samba Sister Collective. This vibrant group brings energy and rhythm to marches, demonstrations, and events across the country. Their performances include powerful appearances at events such as Million Women Rise, the WOW (Women of the World) Festival, and various anti-racist demonstrations. Through music, they amplify voices, inspire action, and foster a sense of unity and empowerment. We’re incredibly proud of their contributions both on and off the field, as they continue to champion important causes through their passion and talent.

Location: Old Vic Theatre
Event: Workshop
We were honored to be chosen as participants in the Old Vic Community Club, part of their inspiring mission to create equal access to the arts and theatre. During this enriching experience, we had the privilege of attending some of their fantastic theatre productions and participating in engaging workshops. A highlight was the backstage tour, where we got a behind-the-scenes look at the props for their production of A Christmas Carol. One of the workshops was particularly memorable, as it brought together various groups to collaborate on creating a short ensemble piece. Through improvisation, movement, script work, sound, and voice, we explored the creative process and developed a unique performance. It was Centre Mid player Ronnie who organised this

Steppers swapped their football boots for walking boots along with friends on Sunday to take part in a conservation session at Epping Forest, hosted by the Epping Forest Heritage Trust. The session was led by Conservation Officer Becky Griffins, who began by sharing insightful theory on coppicing and biodiversity before guiding us straight to the sycamore trees for some hands-on experience. The entire experience was incredibly rewarding, we all felt the benefits of being surrounded by nature, making it the perfect environment for team bonding. A huge thank you to Becky for leading such an inspiring and educational session!
